E.ON to build one of Germany’s first commercial Ultra-Fast Charging station near the motorway Frankfurt - Nuremberg - Autohof Strohofer, Geiselwind.
For the station at Geiselwind, E.ON and CLEVER had taken a forward-looking view on the future of EV charging by building the station to accommodate four charge points with modular speeds ranging from 150kW to 350kW. Building this first commercial Ultra-Fast Charging station marks a further step towards achieving the ambition held by E.ON and CLEVER to create a Europe-wide network of Ultra-Fast Charging stations. These stations will allow the next generation of electric vehicles to charge a 400 km-range battery in only 20 minutes, and in future with 350kW even much faster than that.
Geiselwind has therefore been selected as the first location for a number of reasons including its strategic position connecting Frankfurt to Nuremburg and its wide range of on-site amenities. E.ON’s regional grid operator Bayernwerk will be responsible for connecting the station to the grid and ensuring smooth operation. Construction is set to commence this fall with the planned opening at the end of 2017.
