Tesla’s first Supercharger in Czech Republic is in an impressive charging station.
Electric vehicle enthusiasts and some automakers have been calling for more homogeneity in charging standards. Some progress has been made, but ultimately, it looks like we will have to wait to see which standards will prevail and which will become obsolete.
In the meantime, we are starting to see some interesting charging stations using several different standards at the same location. Tesla has even been participating in a few of these stations around the world, but its latest, which happens to be its first Supercharger in the Czech Republic, is particularly impressive.
A new E.ON charging station located in Humpolec along the E50, which is the main highway between Prague and Brno, has been split into two charging lanes: on one side you have a 6-stall Supercharger and on the other side you have a combination of several other charging standards.
It features two DC fast-charging chargers; a CHAdeMO charger capped at 50 kW and a CCS charger also capped at 50 kW. The station also has a few level 2 22kW Mennekes type 2 chargers.
The station officially opened last month and it is available 24/7 with charging unattended, but the Tesla Supercharger was activated a few weeks later.
The Humpolec Supercharger is Tesla’s first official presence in the Czech Republic. The company currently doesn’t operate any store or service center and therefore, it doesn’t sell its vehicle in the country, but Supercharger stations are generally a good sign that Tesla is about to enter the market.
